Local Indie Feature Needs Extras in Baltimore this Sunday!

(Posting for a friend, see email below)

Ciscovaras Pictures, makers of the indie comedies Boxing Day and Six Nonsmokers, are wrapping up their third feature this weekend!

You can learn more about the film, Conquering the Rose, at their website (http://conqueringtherose.com/),

They’re finishing the shoot this Sunday with a bang, and they need a bunch of non-union background actors as gallery patrons, dance
recital attendees, and memorial service attendees. (In fact, if people can bring three options of business casual garb, they’d love to use actors in all three).
Here are the stats:
Date: Sunday, July 25th
Time: 9am to 5pm
Type: All ages and ethnicites – definitely includes college-age actors.
Location: The Creative Alliance building (The Patterson) in Baltimore
Contact: Francis Abbey at ciscovaras@gmail.com.

Note: As far as we know, this is a non-paying gig

Special Coaching Offer for Stonehenge Actors

With the lottery results mailed out, actors now know whether or not they need to polish their monologues.

Michael Gabel award-winning Actor/Director/Educator is offering private coaching for those attending the Stonehenge Auditions.  These session are designed specifically for the demands of Stonehenge.  He is offering a special rate of $50/hr session.  A discount of 25%.  He can be contacted at mggabel@aol.com or 301-772-5828.

Stonehenge Goes to Eleven

It appears we’ve been around long enough for the pop culture references to reference themselves. Stonehenge, the mass audition for film and video, will have its eleventh edition on Sunday, June 6th in Baltimore. Registration for both actors and filmmakers is open now.

Once again, we are at the Creative Alliance’s most excellent digs at the Patterson in Baltimore. For first-time attendees and even folks who haven’t attended Stonehenge in the past year or so, please check out the information and FAQ for actors or filmmakers–depending on whether you’re auditioning or watching the auditions respectively.

We’ll be highlighting some specific topics filmmakers and actors in the next few weeks. In the meantime, remember: registration for actors ends May 22nd–and while registration for filmmakers lasts until June 2nd, the price doubles on May 21st. Don’t delay.

Last notes for Stonehenge Actors before Sunday

Emails to all 192 actors for Stonehenge were sent Thursday morning, the number of headshots/resumes you need to bring is 24, and we’re looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday in Baltimore.

However, we know things come up at the last minute (inclduing paying gigs) and some actors will not be able to make it. If you can’t make it–for any reason–please send us a quick email at stonehenge@teamjabberwocky.com.

For anyone with a guaranteed slot, this a must. Otherwise, as listed on the website, those actors who don’t show–and don’t let us know–won’t get to audition for three years’ worth of henges. Most actors, including those with standby slots, opt to go for the good karma and shoot us an email at stonehenge@teamjabberwocky.com. It usually gives someone on the waitlist a chance and also makes the event run smoother, so why not?

Finally, we’re happy to remind actors we will once again be taping auditions for Stonehenge and posting them on our YouTube channel (cunningly located at www.youtube.com/user/StonehengeAuditions). The collected auditions have gotten over 30,000 views and we have a growing list of local production companies as subscribers. Details about the free service and release are at http://tinyurl.com/2q43dv.

Thanks for reading and we’ll see you at the Henge!

Actor Registration Open for Stonehenge IX

For all those peeps who have been waiting (and we do understand there have been some people waiting), Stonehenge registration is open for actors.

As always, we suggest actors check out the exhaustive FAQ for answers to all sorts of questions.

For actors interested in attending this latest Stonehenge, we encourage you to register sooner rather than later before you forget. Actor registration has a hard stop at 6pm on Saturday, August 29. And although audition slots are assigned by lottery, you have better odds of getting a slot than any game of chance out there.

Let us explain: in addition to the 120 guaranteed slots, there’s 72 standby slots PLUS a waitlist. (we won’t say how many people will be on the waitlist, but it’s double digits, and it’s a prime number because, well, we like prime numbers). Suffice to say it’s more than 200 spaces and on average, 300 of you register.

200+ openings for 300-some actors is good, but it gets better.

This past Stonehenge, every single actor on the waitlist got an actual audition slot. Moreover, at the event, every single actor, guaranteed or standby, who wanted to audition, auditioned. We’re not saying this will happen this time, but this is how is does happen:  actors, such as yourselves, are conscientious and email us before the event and cancel. Life happens and every Stonehenge, actors have to cancel for good reasons (a paying gig) and bad (horribly sick). Whenever someone cancels, space opens up. It’s karma at work.

Again, 200+ spaces for the 300 actors who register on average.

We look forward to seeing you at the Henge!
